Default Nobody out there has any ideas on this?

I have a 1994 ZR1 with 23,000 miles. I bought it used. My question is the transmission whines when the clutch is out and in neutral. With clutch in the whine stops. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hello Robert, and welcome to the forum.

It depends on how you define "whine", but as wikdzr1 said, they do have a certain noise that is inherent. I would describe mine more like a hum, but that is in fact normal and nothing to worry about.

Thanks very much for the replies. I guess I'll quit worrying about it.

My '91 does the same thing. It is just a trait! Have had it out - checked - everything is OK! Just remember the power!

It's your throwout bearing and the noise is normal unless it gets too loud then you need to replace it.
