Mini-pull
I had unzipped the plenum and replaced a busted one-way vacuum check valve that connects between the engine vac/vac canister/elect. pump about 3 weekends ago at WAZOO garage.
Upon drive back home, noticed she wasn't holding vacuum once again. Yesterday, I unbolted plenum bolts, popped a 2X4 vertically under the throttle body and replaced the check valve. Whole thing was done in 20 minutes! getting too damn good at this...

Glad to hear that you got it fixed again. Did you find another source for the check valve?

It took you 20 minutes and that is about right for a pro i would say 35-45 minutes for a non pro. You need to give a seminar at BG on plenum pull, took 30 guys 10 supervisors 5 workers and 3 cheerleaders 5-6 hours to R&R a plenum at BG  Pete

If you have a stuck check valve you can pull it off and spray brake clean in it then blow it out with compressed air then spray WD40 down in it. And thats all there is to it. All it takes is a little dirt to get down in it. But easy to clean.

Fact that I went to velcros may have had someting to do with this.  One note. At least for 94, if the motor is cool (over night rest), you can pull the plenum without draining the coolant resorvoir. I got about 1 table spoon of coolant. Only stuff I disconnected were, throttle position sensor connector, IAT temp connector, IAC connector and EGR connection (some of you don't even have this piece). Just had to be real careful not to damage the gasket. |
