Yeah im with you on that, im all about getting parts to complete a engine by why waste time puting on 2 different cam cover emblems I just don't get that.

but he sent me this
VIN 1K5200058

so its the same vin as before anyone got the list check and see if the block is a 90 and it has a early plenum, I had seen alot of pre production engine parts go on the bay many times so its easy to assume it is a replacment plenum.

Here's a pic of Eric's #004 pilot car and just behind it is the pic of the back of the eBay motor.

Hmmm....
My guess is that the plenum that came with the motor was damaged or lost or whatever, and someone picked up the a slightly damaged prototype plenum to put in it's place. If you look at the top of the plenum you'll see that the secondary vacuum pipes aren't connected nor are they visible in the gaps between the runners.

Looking closely on the passenger side, it kinda looks to me like the cam cover emblem is the later style and the cam cover emblem on the drivers side is the early style.

This thing is beginning to look a lot like a "Franken-Motor".

Actually, it looks to me like there is no emblem at all on the passenger side. The black that you're seeing there is the black adhesive stuff that holds the emblem on. Someone pulled the emblem off, or it fell off. So, going off the one emblem that is there, that is a '90 LT5 production motor with a prototype '89 plenum on it.

He says the motor is "not complete" but in the pictures it looks pretty complete to me. Maybe some stuff shown installed on the motor is actually not included? He needs be a lot more clear about exactly what someone would be buying.

It's an 89 engine with the K in the VIN. Looks like the plenum is original with the engine.

I agree also that there is just one cam cover emblem. Only the hucky puck is left on the RH side.

Looks like a phase IV 89 LT5. they started Phase IV in 6/88 so of it was vin 58 it would have been built after 1/89 so it would have the phase IV. #004 has a Phase III (built 4/88). The LT5 looks like the one in #074.

Pilots were #01 to #17. I don't know for sure, but the stamp has a K... I would guess it was out of #058. #40 to #84 were engineering units. They were really unreleased 89 production cars. Could be from one of the europe test cars...
