Buying New Tires

Ok so this is not ZR-1 related but it is tire related. I need a set of tires on my C5 Corvette and the local guy quotes $1,995 for some Eagle F1 GSD3's

Check price on Tirerack for 4 tires - $757.00 Shipped after $50 rebate from GoodYear.

I know everybody needs to make some $$$ but $1,995.

thats nuts ,go get them from the rack and pay someone 75-100 to mount and balance them . thats sad that they would try to charge so much .

Yup, they are on the way to the house.

Now, I just need someone competent to not break my sensors on the demount/mount process. Also the sensors may have to re-learn themselves.
I'm thinking the dealer but I dislike the dealer here, possibly one of those big goodyear stores?

I had a local Goodyear store install GY VR's with the directional arrows on the sidewall on backwards and they had to redo them all. I had to stare at them a while cause I couldn't believe a Goodyear store installed their own type of tire on backwards.

I agree 100%. Watch the dismount and remind each time about the sensors!

Whatever tire you decide to buy make sure you check the date code to make sure it was manufactured within the last 6-12 months. Tires older than that are NOT safe no matter what the sales rep tells you. If you don't know about old tires sold as safe and new and don't know how to read date codes which most always are on inside of tire making it hard to read once mounted, go to this site

Thanks, I'm well aware of it. They are about 1 year old and thats fine for me for a daily driver. I could have gotten the fronts from 2009 but it would have been another $20. I just worry about the ones that are on there for a long time. The ones that are on my C5 are the original tires from 2001
