Default lt5 weight compared to l98 and lt1

Just wondering since most aluminum headed chevy v8's weigh around 525lbs, what does the lt5 weigh? Also if it is more that typical small blocks is that the only thing than makes the zr1 weight more than a typical c4?

I believe I have seen 597lbs. I think most of the difference comes from having a very heavy flywheel and of course, camshafts aren't exactly light.

Thanks for the reply... also if the 597lbs was including the flywheel and probably accessories, does the 525lbs for the typical sbc weight include the flywheel and accessories as well? I would have thought the aluminum block with the larger heads to accomodate 2 cams each would have put it somewhere in between the weight of an ls1 and an lt1 rather than 70 pounds heavierthan the lt1, but again maybe the 525lbs for the sbc and 450 lbs for the ls1 were not including the flywheel and /or accessories...?

I doubt it. For one, the ZR-1 has wider bodywork and larger wheels and tires. Those will add weight.

The other is options. Curb weights are for base cars. The base Corvette doesn't have sports seats, selective ride control, big brakes, etc. All this weight is on the regular Corvette if you option it up, but the curb weight stated will not reflect that. The ZR-1 has them standard, so the curb weight will reflect that.

This is one reason why I suspect that the B2K Corvette in general weighs more than a ZR-1. The B2K had a curb weight of ~3400 lbs also, but they did not include any options other than the big brakes and a few other minor items (like diff gearing, exhaust, etc). Since the typical B2K is highly contented, they on average probably weigh more than a ZR-1, in spite of Reeves supposed comment that the ZR-1 was a pig.
