I guess having taken math in the 80's and 90's, that doesn't ring true for me. I learned algebra, geometry, and calculus just like anyone in the 50's or 60's. We didn't use calculators or anything. When I was in college, I took a differential equations class where they were testing out using Mathematica, but it was sort of optional assignments to use it, we still did the math with pencil and paper.
