It's mostly important if you buy < 93 octane gas. Most gasoline retailers put the "good stuff" in their premium fuel. Top Tier was more to address the diminishing level of additives in low-octane fuels.

Still, good to list it up.

Gee whiz Bob, thanks for pointing out the obvious
seeming it was the entire idea of the of the post
i feel so fulfilled, so informed, and enlightened

P.S. Of course my above mentioned statement was intended as a joke,
albeit, not that funny, AND,
I hope all ZR-1 Owners and
gas consumers realize that 93 octane fuel needs to be used in our
LT-5's, that being addrdessed, the web site does NOT single out
93 octane. They test all fuel sold, to check for detergent additives,
and if not, you can just put in you're own like this lady.

I'm gonna go back and read the article again, but on my first go thru I didn't get the impression that all 93 octane fuels had a "top Tier" detergent package & rating? I know I did go thru it very quickly & got the disscussion about the lower octane fuels. I guess they mean regular( 87 octane ?) not meeting the Top Tier standards. You would think that if it's so important to the emissions' equipment that the required high performance package would be in all the gas no matter what octane level. It's almost as if the EPA says meet these emissions' standards to the car Mfg's & don't require squat from the gas companies to insure the long term optimal equipment performance thru better fuel. Do we want low emissions or not? God I love the government & their inconsistancies.

What strikes me more are the names that seem to be missing from the list like SUNOCO, EXX/Mobil, & BP and a lot of other gas companies. I realize that there are only so many refineries and that all the gas no matter the brand comes from the same distribution center & the proprietary additive package is added at the distribution terminal. Makes me glad that COSTCO sells the Techron additive in 4 packs for a cheap price.
