Re: Stock Exhaust
Exhaust hangers are new and nice and shiney
Could not tell you if cans were painted by prior owner (he actually was such a purest that he apologized for replacing battery), but don't think so...also I have seen on ZR-1s varying degree of paint applied to the cans (of course the tips were all painted. In Heart of the Beast page 88 bottome pic shows tips, rear of can and lower half of can all painted...on page 90 (color pic) looks like almost the entire can is painted yet on page 91 top pic only the tips and rear of cans are painted. With all said I did repaint both cans and the related tips due to discolorization. I have seen ZRs with no undertreatment on the back trunk bins and having the black finish (treatment) only on the front under foot wells...which is what my ZR has. When I spent about 100 hours detailing the wheel wells, undercarriage etc. I did not remove any finishes...just grease or grim (of which there was a little, but not in the form a DD would have..)..boy was I tempted to polish up the exhause pipes thought. Envy for the nice polished Corsa exhausts like Phil has...

Re: Stock Exhaust
I'm sure you could see the whole spectrum, based on how they felt that day. I do have OEM exhaust (checking numbers), but I also have corrosion at various places. I'm going to try some rust remover gel on a test area and see how it turns out. Some areas are pretty pitted.
