tire air pressure sensor
Has anyone ever had their tire air pressure sensor dislodge at 145mph?? It was a clear sat morning 5miles of clear flat road, it felt like I needed to feel the adrenaline rush of my 92 ZR-1. I cranked her up half way through 5th & my tire sensor broke loose within my tire and my car started to bounce around the road @ 140 +.. Well, I got my rush & a well needed forearm work out.. I called my local Chevy dealer and they back ordered the sensor for a cost of $130. Dose anyone have any recommendations on any aftermarket upgrades? Can this system be removed?Regards,WikdZR1

Yes it happens in open road races. Best advice either:
A. Don't go 145. :-) B. Remove sensors. C. Hope it doesn't happen again. Yes they can be removed but your LTPWS sensor light will be on all the time. |

ZR1MOM, This may be a foolish question, but can the SLTPWS light be programmed out with a chip mod? Sort of like how they disable CAGS or turn the fans on sooner. It seems as though most just pull the bulb. Just curious.Thank You, |

Good question I have a DRM Chip and last night when I installed the new sensor my light flashes on the dash when I start up but then it goes out. I thought I would have to reprogram the system so that leads me to believe it is not active. I have since lowered my air pressure (10lbs) to test out the system & no warning lights.. Dose anyone know how to test to verify operation? 92 ZR1 #252

There is no way that I know of to turn off the light thru the prom. Most either pull the bulb or put a piece of tape over it. Try lowering the pressure 15lbs, the Low Tire light should come on within 30 seconds of driving. If not it does sound like the system is not working.

When I throw on new tires this spring I'm going to take off the sensors and take out the bulb.
