Dan and I have been messaging what seems like daily so it no problem to let him know you were summoning him. You will love it and I am very impressed with all his stuff. That is what makes this car so awesome; its the people keeping the dream alive!! 🤙🏼 Sent from my iPhone using ZR-1 Net Registry

The gauge works. Per the recommendation of the instructions, I used a relay to power the gauge off a custom circuit. It is probably dumb luck but the gauge works out well in the vent. Despite the poor picture taken on my part, it is very legible from behind the vent. This is also where the shift light will come from.
Best thing about this is if I do not want to look at a gauge or have it in my peripheral while just casual cruising, just thumb the vent wheel down and it is hidden completely. Next step is find a decent location to make a hole to snake the wide band wiring through the firewall. So much for waiting until the fall or winter to buy this and install it. Did you get the system installed and running?

Time flies. It is still not up and running, I come back to it from time to time, but I have been busy with other things. I do want to complete the system, some day. If I just wanted to put a bottle in the car now, I could, but I had a vision, or plan on cobbling together a system with some extra safety nets outside of just a window switch for rpm WOT monitoring. I ended up relocating the IAT sensor to the lower front air dam, as having one downstream in the path of nitrous is not advised, per my research. Marc assisted in reprogramming the chip for the relocation. I ran into some hiccups on how to chain together multiple safety nets. I have the window switch, which monitors rpm and WOT, but I also wanted AFR and fuel pressure as part of the safeguards. I racked my brain on that for a bit, and someone on an electronics forum suggested something called an "And Circuit". You basically daisy chain various relays together, and if one in the chain does not get a trigger pulse from the component, the circuit cannot be complete to energize the nitrous solenoid to open. My full power mode is on in the ECU all the time, so I used the former power key location as the arm switch for the system. PSN-1 gauge with AFR and shift light is on all the time but turning the key to full power arms the system and turns a FPR gauge on I have in the vent to the left of the dash. It is an extremely slow going project that I just mess with from time to time. I still need a decent provision for the FPR sensor. I have a spare passenger side fuel rail I will be sending to Marc for a modification for an additional schrader fitting. I also am considering a boost a pump. I could never quite figure out how the old Holley NOS kit provided extra fuel to supplement the dry shot, and from what I can tell, it was some sort of pressure booster. Holley unfortunately no longer keeps the instructions or information archived on that old ZR-1 system. I also have a single pump conversion sitting on the shelf that I need to install in place of the dual pumps, which will be wired up to the booster. If anyone has a project car they are planning to spray, and you want to link up separate safety features, I attached the simple "and circuit" I put together as an idea of how it works. This does not include the boost a pump wired in. In theory, you can link in as many safeguards as you want so that they all "talk" to each other before allowing solenoids to open. |
