Russell, did you have the original battery checked at the auto parts store for voltage and cranking amps?

Got me again two weeks ago, pulling CTSY fuse resets alarm and presto the car starts. Somehow triggering VATS with no audible alarm.

Had my starter rebuilt by my Wazoo brothers during maintenance day. It was overdue and did it just in time, she would not have lasted much longer!

I file off the carbon tracks to shiny copper and reinstall. Good for another 35,000 miles.

FYI. I started this thread over 2 years ago. Couldn?t get a solenoid rebuild kit at the time, within a timely timeframe, so I put a new/remanufactured starter in it. Never had a cranking issue with it after that. Been fine for the last 2 years.
I did throw a new battery in prior to the new starter and that helped with extra amperage but didn?t fix the problem, which was solenoid contacts worn, in the end.
