Also - Here's a video I posted privately for Jonny Smith showing the service history and paperwork for the car, might be of interest as it shows some of the German stuff:

Interesting photo of the vin plate! I never saw one of those. You still have the VIN number stamped in the front frame under the pop up driver light too?? In this place is my VIN number...

It is interesting to see a German vin plate on a C4!

I'm not sure about the frame stamp, I'll check next time I am working on the car!

Hey folks, allow me to add some German knowledge. what you see there is a standard German VIN plate. These are required on any car in addition to a VIN being stamped into the frame. So the VIN stamping as we know it is (most likely) still there AND there is the aluminum tag.

The plate gives some additional information such as manufacturer and model name, maximum load capacity, etc.

If the car comes without you have to add one, so did I on my Mark III and of course my ZR-1.

It is not actually checked by anyone. It's a useless piece of German bureaucracy. Only during our mandatory bi-annual federal inspection they make sure it's there.

I'm not too sure whether or not newer cars still have it. But it's definitely needed on older cars.

Thank's for the explanation Matt. Here in Spain it's not necessary to install another vin plate. They respect original one.

Auto_Funk, did you get your hands on a cam position sensor yet?
