The Pineapple Express
The Pineapple Express Lives!
My father purchased the car over a year ago. Recently, I sold my 91 Zr1 to buy the car from him. It is an absolute beast! Currently replacing a leaking a heater core and can't wait to get it back on the road. The car is a 1990 model and was originally red. Over the years it has had countless work done to it. It lived an early part of it?s life in Hawaii where along with some engine work from Jeal, it was painted yellow and dubbed the ?Pineapple Express?. More recently it had been living in Nebraska where it was often competed every year in the Sandhills Open Road Challenge. All of the current engine work has been done by Haibeck. The engine was a 415 and now is a 403 after a different crankshaft was installed in 2018. It is still making north of 600hp. Last edited by Shizap; 02-01-2023 at 01:49 AM. |

Re: The Pineapple Express
Wow! I always wondered what happened with this ZR-1. This is truly a blast from the past! 650hp Haibeck 403ci - it's one of the big boys!
Congrats and welcome!

Re: The Pineapple Express
This looks like the Pineapple Express 2 rather than the original Pineapple Express. Both Pineapples began with owner Stan Schwartz who was living in Hawaii. Pineapple 1 was a 1994 vin 0163, the engine looking a lot like your picture. Stan sold it to Jennifer and Toby Johnson from Florida. Pineapple 2 had increased displacement to 415 ci, was a 1990, vin 1215, and ended up in the hands of Joe Shown in Nebraska. If your car is vin 1215, then it has had more body work than just the paint color and the raised hood. The gill panel is from a later model than 1990 and the horizontal molding had to have been replaced from the black that came on all 1990's regardless of paint color.

Re: The Pineapple Express
I probably have either the Vette and Corvette Fever magazine articles somewhere in my collection

Re: The Pineapple Express
When I bought my 90 it came with a binder of old documents. The cover of the binder has a picture of this car when it was still red with Elaine standing next to it.
Pretty wild! |
