Steering wheel removal
I'm trying to pull the steering wheel of my 92 Z but having difficulty removing the screws from the back of the steering wheel. The video that I looked at said to use a T27 torq bit which I have but can't seem to get it to go in and allow me to turn it loose. Supposedly, the screws themselves won't come out and stay in but I'm having issues with the whole process. I can't tell if the screws are getting loose or if the bit is even in. Thoughts? Very frustrating.

Steering wheel removal
Not sure what to tell you other than did you look to confirm it?s a torx head and someone didn?t change the screw to hex? There is factory loctite so it might be difficult to break loose.

Re: Steering wheel removal
Here is a picture of the screws behind the steering wheel. For whatever reason, I can't get the torq bit to engage. It's either a T27 or T30. I'll ask Marc tomorrow about it. Frustrating as hell.

It sure is a torx head. It has been a few years since I replaced my stock steering wheel with aftermarket, but I don?t recall any issue. Maybe your torx bit is not deep (long) enough to reach and engage? Sent from my iPhone using ZR-1 Net Registry

Re: Steering wheel removal
That's what I'm thinking now. I'm going into town tomorrow to see if I can find one long enough.

Re: Steering wheel removal
Yes I agree--maybe it has a shoulder on it that is preventing the torx tip from reaching down to the bolt head. Good luck on it! --Bob

Re: Steering wheel removal
Has anyone ever heard of a T31 torq screwdriver?

T30 but not a 31. I know it does not use anything special. Sent from my iPhone using ZR-1 Net Registry
