Default So. Cal. Road Trip in April

A rag tag few old Corvette guys are planning a weekend road trip first weekend in April. We wanted to reach out to the ZR-1 Registry to join with us. In part because several of us have been involved with ZR1's for many years now. It is more of a road tour than a road race. Drive what you want. One guy usually leaves his Corvette home and drives a Porsche. We are open to suggestions for things along the way.

Friday April 1: To Lake Isabella. The road up runs along the Kern River and in Spring it should be a wonderful experience to drive along the flowing rapids. (One or two guys may just do the first day.)

Depart Los Alamitos about 9:30, (we can meet up along the way.)
Dive by Willow Spring Raceway,
Gander at the Tehachapi loop,
Lunch,
Then up the mountain to Lake Isabella for dinner and drinks.

Saturday April 2: To Stovepipe Wells and Death Valley. This is typically the height of the flower bloom in Death Valley.

Down the eastern side of the mountain towards Lone Pine,
Stop and take in some sights along the way,
Find a nice place for lunch before heading on for the afternoon leg,
Drive into Death Valley,
Crash for the evening after dinner.

Sunday April 3: Tour Death Valley for the much of the day. (Most of us will likely call it done in the afternoon and head back to So. Cal.)

Monday April 4: Colorado River if you wish. (One car as of now is going to Hoover Dam.).

Each of us are making are own hotel reservations. This is high season in Death Valley and the hotels in Lake Isabella are starting their tourist season. The two places we talked to and have booked rooms at are below. The two ladies know that there are Corvettes coming that weekend.

Just want to share some of the photograph of the trip. Only one car was lost on the trip. Thank you Ted for the photographs.

Next time to Western Arizona.
