Default For Sale: 1991 Corvette ZR-1, only 13000 miles

CAR IS SOLD! It went to a great home right here in Omaha! Thank you, Stephen. Enjoy the Z!

I'm offering for sale this black beauty, my 1991 Corvette ZR-1.

It has less than 13,000 miles and is in excellent condition inside and out. With such low mileage, you might expect this car to be a trailer queen on the verge of being NCRS-quality, but it's not.

It has a good history, but I'm the 5th owner. It is very well-sorted -- looks, runs, and drives superbly -- but it has a non-original transmission. It is new, balanced, and blueprinted with documentation. The new transmission was installed in March 2017 at around 7000 miles on the odometer. The clutch and transmission are crisp and smooth and still feel like new. The paint is in great shape but there's a small spider crack in the middle of the hood -- it's hardly noticeable but can be seen when the light hits it right (see pic included in external gallery). I replaced the driver's side carpet with a full new insert, because there was a wear spot in the original carpet near the clutch. I also replaced the center console plate around the shifter because the original had a crack in it. All this makes this a great opportunity to own a low-mileage, well-sorted, King Of The Road that you can drive without the worry that comes with owning an all-original, super pristine example.

In regard the owner history, the first owner lived in Oklahoma and had the car for 21 years. The second owner was from Texas and owned the car for the next 3 years. The third owner was also from Texas, had the car for 4 years, and did a lot of work to the car. He kept copious maintenance records -- I have them all stored in a book along with records from the 4th owner and myself. The third owner was the one who had the transmission replaced. Amongst other upkeep, he had the fuel injectors replaced, radio rebuilt, and headlight motors reconditioned. With the fourth owner, the story turns rather tragic. He was from Alabama and bought the car with 10,505 miles on it. He drove the car regularly (almost 2000 miles) in 6 months. He was killed in a car accident (not in the ZR-1). The ZR-1 sat until I bought it in December 2020. So, I've only owned the car only a few months myself. I fell into the deal while searching for a blue C4. I have an opportunity for another Corvette that recently arose, so I'm testing the waters to see if someone else wants to give this one a good home. If it goes, I'll pursue this other car. If not, that's okay too.

I have put a lot into this ZR-1 myself including new spark plugs and wires (there was one discolored spark plug wire, so I had all of them replaced -- and while that was being done, I went ahead and had all the spark plugs replaced too by a performance shop here in Omaha). I put in a new driver's side carpet so all the carpet in the car would be tip top. I added door sill covers and new Lloyd floor and rear deck mats with ZR-1 logos. I replaced the console shift plate and put in a new driver?s side inner door handle (because the original had some of the normal nicks and chips and I wanted it to look as nice and new as the rest of the interior). I spent the hours upon hours this winter detailing the engine bay, suspension, underside and interior. The only thing I haven't done yet (and will if I don't end up selling) is a full paint correction and ceramic coating.

As mentioned, I have a lot of maintenance records for the car as well as copies of the window sticker and build sheet. I also have the Pizza Box and owner?s manual (see pic included in external gallery). The car has two sets of keys and the full-power key.

The car runs strong and drives great. No fluid leaks (which means no drips in my garage and that's the way I like it).

At this point, I'd rate the exterior paint 7 out of 10, but it would rate higher for me once a good paint correction and ceramic coating are applied. The car has an exceptional black leather seat interior that I'd rate a 8-1/2 to 9 out of 10. The driver's seat bolster -- which is one of the most common wear spots in these cars -- shows little to no wear. The wheels aren't perfect -- they could use a good polish -- but are rash-free and look great. No windshield delamination. Glass top is near perfect. Car comes with a painted black top as well in a new protective bag. Seals are great all the way around.

Below are a few pictures of the car, but I have over 100 detail photos that you can check out if interested at this online gallery:
