Tune Up Parts for My 90? Recommendations Requested.
My 90 is on its way, and although it's definitely been well looked after, being me, I wanna give it a good servicing. Only has 22,000 miles, but other then all the fluids, I'm looking at plugs, filters etc etc. I'm planning on doing the fuel pumps also.
So what are the recommended replacement parts? Which plugs? Which filters? Plug wires? Anything else I should look at doing for reliability? Thanks |

Re: Tune Up Parts for My 90? Recommendations Requested.
Cliff (aka Dynomite) has in his Solutions (sticky) a vast wealth of knowledge and parts info. And, I'll attach my personal log of stuff I've found to be notable since 2007 when I bought mine.
That said, I believe the FIRST thing to do is to get a Factory Service Manual (aka FSM) and read it from cover to cover - one of the BEST things I ever did when I got my Z. Then, drive it for a while to get accustomed to its quirks. These cars are pretty well sorted out "as is", and considering so many parts are from China these dayz, one may be better off to not go changing stuff for the sake of changing it! (Just sayin..."School of Hard Knocks" speaking here!) My advice would be to check in with Jerry's Gaskets when it comes to parts. Jerry is one helluva guy, and has been involved with the ZR-1 since "forever"! Also, Rock Auto, Eklers, and Vette2Vette have served me very well too. Enjoy! Welcome to the Brotherhood of the Beast!

As a rule, I don't buy Chinese made parts. Indeed, the FSM is on the radar. Any idea where ti find one? The stuff I'm looking at are parts that just don't age well. My ZR-1 (sounds good to say that), had an understanding and caring owner, but life has been getting in the way of late, and he hasn't driven it much over the last few years. So my first thoughts are things that just don't age well. Fluids, filters, tuneup stuff, etc. The one thing I'm thinking of is a pre-emptory changing of the fuel pumps. But yes, I will drive it over the coming months and see what she does. |

If you avoid Chinese parts, the acdelco ep381 fuel pump is the only non-Chinese part available.
I just did a fuel pump job last week and I was determined to find a pump that wasn't from China. |
