Default Good News!

Sports Car Market magazine just published its December issue and the attached section featured the C4 ZR-1 in a very favorable light. SCM, a large high quality magazine, largely documents auction results and market trends and this is a regular section for it. Bodes well for ZR-1 values I would think. --Bob

These cars have had no shortage of good articles and positive publicity over the last 5 years. Hell, they’ve had people on prime time Barrett Jackson auctions say they should sell for more. Zero effect. That isn’t really how the market works. The only positive is it means they’ve probably reached rock bottom, which is why they’re calling it a “buy.” The market on them has been dead flat for the last year however and the rest of the collector car market isn’t much better, so don’t expect a jump anytime soon.

Yeah I wouldn't go nuts either...Been following market trends since I bought mine 5 years ago....Not much movement..

What I do notice is any C6Z06 that is priced mid to low 30's and modified are gone in one or two weeks....

Just like the stock market.
When a stock is sold it is because the seller thinks it best to sell.
The buyer thinks the exact opposite of the seller.

There has been no shortage of sales of ZR-1's.

Prices continue to be all over the place.
Down, yes.
Up, yes.
Flat, yes.

BUT, they are selling, and at prices, low to high.
Still a GREAT time to buy!

ZR-1's sales remain strong, with cars that are going to Germany and Switzerland as well as the Middle Eastern countires. As ZR-1's become old enough to qualify for the lower EU import tax, sales will likely improve more.

US sales also have been good in 2019, again at all levels.

Someone is buying them!

30 year window opening for Europe will see a price uptick in 2020, if the Europeans have liquidity. Collector and classic car market in a down cycle. 80’s and 90’s on way up, but the collector car industry will see long term changes as the collector crowd ages and less interested youth have liquidity to buy. That is my humble opinion with 25 years of experience in the industry. I bought C4 Corvettes and sold my 355 Ferrari’s. More bang for buck, less snooty crowd :-) and more available buyers if I need to sell.

Cheers!

What were the issues? The photos showed a car that's description and mileage matched the appearance of the wear and tear in the photos.
