Default Introduction and Questions

Good morning all, l am new to both this forum and the ZR-1 - haven't actually owned a Vette either - though I have driven a few. Guess I can blame this on my Brother-in-law who is a Corvette fanatic and just took delivery of a 06 C6 which I have not had a chance to drive.

As far as ZR-1's are concerned I drove a '90 of a co-workers back in the summer of 1990 and was very impressed however at $70K it was way out of my snack-bracket.

As far as High-Performance I have owned a few 5.0 Mustangs and I built a Factory Five Racing Roadster in '03 which I have raced, auto-crossed and drag raced quite a bit. A very quick machine - with a rebuilt 302 and 5 spd it has run a best of 12.78 at 107 on street tires. I love the car however it is very basic - a motor, a steering wheel and four big tires trying to keep the thing on the road.

I know in the Vette world the ZR-1 is not all that refined however, I am looking forward to A/C, Cruise Control and Heat (side windows too for that matter!!)

So I will be mostly lurking and learning here - the Roadster is apart for paint and then up for sale in order to fund the ZR-1 purchase.

so here's the questions:

What sort of mileage am I looking for to avoid both over-use and neglect?

I prefer the '90 body -style - what a common areas of concern?

I will need to purchase a close to stock vehicle in order to import it - what are my first steps in modding the car once it's in the great white north?

Thanks in advance - a great forum you have here.

Scott

If you check out the registry's for sale area. You'll find a zr1 that a zr1 person has owned most of your small area's of concern have been addressed. there are also, Canadian owners, maybe you'll get lucky and find one already in the frozen tundra.
Once, purchased, the best bang for your buck, modification wise.
Headers, Corsa or Catback exhaust. 4 10 gears.
and a chip burned by Marc Haibeck, or any of our ZR1 tuners, and
there will be a seat in the britches difference, and a permagrin.
It'll also just beat, the times in your stripped down race car.
welcome to the forum. pull up a chair, look around.
use the search area of our forum to find anwsers to most all questions
pertaining to the ZR1 and some great people.

Welcome Scott, good to have you on board

Zs are a bit hard to find up here but they do appear occasionally. I brought mine in from the US.

Welcome! What's nice about ZR-1s these days is they're so damn affordable! Like you, back in 1990, there was no way I could afford a freaking Z, so it was relegated to dream car territory - a car that I want, but would never have.

Fast forward 17 years, and I've got one in the garage!

Look around, talk to the guys and you won't regret it!
