Default 4th of July, Independence Day

Independence Day

More than a day-off holiday, it's a celebration of our freedom. It should never be taken for granted.

Our freedom & independence has come at a great price, expended over the course of more than 2 centuries. Those who gave the life they would have had are gone from us. There are others who also gave the life they would have had, those who are still with us, the wounded. We can acknowledge them, thank them and help to preserve their dignity & pride. When you see them, take a moment to acknowledge their presence and thank them. If you are able, donate to a veterans assistance program of your choice.

Take a moment today, give thought to our freedom and the lives given for it. Remember those thoughts when you hear the national anthem. Stand proudly and cover your heart in acknowledgment. It's little to ask, small in effort but large in tribute.

Good words, Jerry.

I was recently given a copy of "Extreme Ownership" by two Navy Seals, Jocko Willink and Leif Babin, who were involved in the fight for the freedom of Iraq. My wife and I are reading it together, and it is riveting. It is focused on leadership, yet surely gives a person some feel of the intensity of the combat many of today's veterans have/are experiencing. I highly recommend it for that reason alone (appreciation of those who are fighting our wars overseas), or if a person is in any leadership position - big or small.

A happy 4th of July to all!

What a great day & reason to celebrate.

For me, it was extremely humbling. My last active duty 4th.

Thanks to all that have served.
