Default P/N 10074131 brake pressure warning switch

Does anyone have any info on a supersession part number for this discontinued switch, or know of a vendor for one? This is the switch on the master cylinder that isn’t the low fluid level indicator.

What’s wrong with the switch? The switch does not detect fluid pressure directly. It’s an electrical contact that grounds if the proportioning valve moves too much in one direct or another indicating an imbalance between the front and rear circuits. Technically it can be removed without affecting the braking or setting off the light. If it’s leaking fluid you have an internal leak in the master cylinder. In which case the master cylinder must be replaced.

Here’s one possible source. No guarantees they actually have one.

Hi there. Thanks for the link - they were the only ones who might have it I was able to find either.

I’m having the MC replaced - work schedule and wrenching on my other cars kept me from tackling it myself. The tech says the switch is brittle and falling apart. No surprises there, the TX environment and time took a toll on lots of bits and pieces probably including the plastic body of this part.

If the car can be buttoned up sans switch, I’d probably take that route to get it back home and buy some time to source a replacement.

Just make sure the hole is plugged so dirt can’t get in.
