CompNine is and has been for years a 'subscription service'. Years ago that wasn't so. As a matter of fact the Registry VIN information was built from CompNine and I confirmed some VIN's that that for years had thought to have been builds weren't. I haven't been to the Registry for a few years. For what CompNine can do for you a dealer can do 'for free'.

CompNine might have some value if a person were shopping for a car(any car, most years since early 90's) where you wanted to confirm a build prior to making a trip to check. You could confirm what the seller says is either correct or fictitious.

I mentioned to the OP I believed the BS reference is 'shipping weight' and that I felt Certification Label was based on a compilation from likely 'curb weight'. very different. It would be interesting to compare a few. With the only option being C2L it should be very easy.

What might be interesting would be a '90 comparison, you have C60, C68 and the 1 or 2 top option.

Here is a link to Marc Haibeck's Gross Vehicle weight comparison and a discussion on differences between cars. He has a relatively small sample (11 cars) but notes that the main difference in weights is the second top option. Interestingly, my old '95 (#409) with two tops was the second heaviest behind Fred Haraf's '93. Go Figure.--Bob

My 12/89 '90 #653 with C68 - CC3 - 64S (single top) on the Certification Label displays 3920.

Marc has C2L cars mentioned in '90 but no distinction as too if C60 or C68. Since all weights match I'd guess those are C68 cars. It would be interesting maybe to compare '90 with CF7 (solid painted) only with C60 and C68. Not being A Registry Member I can't peek at the production number. Their maybe wasn't any CF7 orders.

I'd think(just a WAG) that there shouldn't be anything lighter than a '90 C60 with CC3.

The OP if his CompNine subscription is valid could inquire VINs both before his and after his to compare. I use a check digit algorithm to create VINs but being a Registry Member he could just use the list.

That's very interesting. The issue I have is my early '93(Oct 92) Build Sheet #0027, doesn't match any of those GVRW's. When generating a tag, I'm trying to figure which numbers to go off. An Early production two-top 93 or late production '92 two top would be good to verify with.

My Build Sheet

Another '93

You couldn't use '92 as the wheels changed, '93 has PKE and also the exhaust I believe other than the converters is slightly different.

Agree the weights may be different. I see two questions to resolve, one, if anyone else's build sheet from any year ZR-1 doesn't match their door tag, and second should all dual(C2L) top '93's have the exact same GVWR. In this case 3979lb. Mine being at 3957 fits right in the middle of Haibeck's weight chart.

After seeing Marc's information I believe what you'd like to accomplish is a confirmation of '93 BS and Certification Labels from VINs prior to #150 and hopefully near yours. On very old Registry Owners listings I have there were 3 lower than yours, 2 just a couple higher and several lower than the 150 that's mentioned. At the time of my information I believe Marc had 071.

Being a Registry Member you should have no trouble!

**** Regarding ECS - I believe it would be very interesting for a Registry Officer to contact them and ask regarding Certification Label duplication. When I did business with them as I mentioned I was told NO, I know an NCRS guy who was told NO and I believe he SCREAMED. Did him no good. I had done $4000 + in invoiced purchases likely when I was told no.

Would they consider maybe for an Owners Group vs an individual request? Who knows.

They're business model is the COLLISION INDUSTRY and they've GM Licensing. An exception that's maybe outside their licensing?

i wouldn't push it as an individual and I'd maybe try for an officer to maybe do a more formal inquiry.

Others have similar interest.

My 93 #179 has a build date of 12/17/92 (was built on my birthday!) I have a replacement BS from the NCM but it does not include the GVWR line as my 91 does? So I can not compare it to the door sticker.
