I'd also go for the post 91 slave and line.
The hydraulic connector on the slave is located in the same position, so I believe you'd be able to use the later style hydraulic line on both 90 and 91. The later style is however much easier to install, as it doesn't have the long steel pipes. The 90 slave doesn't fit anywhere anymore, as it no longer has the aluminium snap-off bleed screw.

Thanks to all the help on this board, I got 'er done, in spite of having to use the 1990 hydraulic line (long story) after all.
There are some techniques and some particular tools that ultimately were utilized to do the job, and I took some pictures along the way for a future HOTB "how to" article. Most of the job is figuring out how to contort myself in the proper position to make best use of the tools on hand. But, more on that later. Had some problems to solve, but got it done.
