Older PROM Chip
This is the PROM chip currently in my Z. Does anyone know anything about this? Is it any good? Should I scrap it and go for the ZR-1 specialist?

Re: Older PROM Chip
The question is "how does the car run?". If u r not having issues, then leave it.
OTOH, if there are upgrades u want to make, Marc, myself and others can provide changes to the calibration.

Re: Older PROM Chip
I have to get the thermostat in and test out the temps of when the fans kick on. It seem to run and idle ok. Seemed to back fire quite a bit though.

Re: Older PROM Chip
Quite a few posts over on Corvette Forum. No one was impressed. Most were added to LT-1's. From what I read, they attempted to add some timing and some fuel. Typical of canned chips....

These chips were done decades ago. We know a lot more about the controls today. And with the limited number of units, other tuners just moved on to where there were greater numbers.

Re: Older PROM Chip
Can I send my superchips PROM to you to update? How much would you charge to get the recent updates loaded for stock set up?

Re: Older PROM Chip
I had a mid 90s prom chip in my 91 ZR-1 that I posted with a pic about six months ago. The car ran fine, with the exception of a backfire or two downshifting. And I wanted the overriding feature that ran car in full power 100% of the time without turning on the valet key. I chose the ZR-1 specialist chip. So along with several other benefits the chip offers, it eliminated the occasional backfire and no need the use of the valet key! Thanks
