2011 cts v rear end whine
Cts v forum is not very active so I will try with u guys knowing the massive knowledge base. I have a 2011 cts v. Most of the second generation cts v cars have a whine in the rear differential when under very light load between 40 and 65 mph. Differential is german made and can't be repaired. Just replace and usually get the same noise after being hammered a few times. Did the third generation cts v get it corrected and if so will it bolt in?
Also is there an oil which might reduce the whine?

Did you try a different gear lubricant?

Re: 2011 cts v rear end whine
FWIW, my 2010 CTS-V does not whine. Whine is usually due to the gear setup. Would think a good rear end shop could fix that.

Re: 2011 cts v rear end whine
Oil changed. No change. Dealer said they have replaced them under warranty (mine past due) and they say they can not be repaired, just replaced.??? However, will look into rear end shop. A friend of mine has one with the same whine. Have read that many whine. Common criticism of these cars. Love the car otherwise but it may cause me to sell it
