Fuel Pressure Gauge
So I'm thinking about installing an in-dash fuel pressure gauge. Has anyone ever drilled and tapped the fuel rail for a sender? I'm thinking there's room for a sender on the drivers side at the rear of the rail but I'm wondering if there's enough meat to drill and tap at that location.

Re: Fuel Pressure Gauge
Why not just hook it up to the Schrader valve?

Re: Fuel Pressure Gauge
Well I was thinking it would be nice to still have the option of hooking up a test gauge to the schader valve under some circumstances. Plus a sender at the Schrader valve would be quite visible.

Re: Fuel Pressure Gauge

Re: Fuel Pressure Gauge
Might want to talk to Todd, he's building a custom fuel rail.

Re: Fuel Pressure Gauge
That's what I did. IIRC, it was easy to find an adapter. I think my FP gauge's sender needed 1/8" NPT. My hunch is you could find a tee adaptor combo that would allow you to keep the Schrader port.
But, maybe retaining the Schrader port isn't needed if you have a fulltime FP gauge. |

Re: Fuel Pressure Gauge
It may be better to weld an AN-2 fitting into the rail where you want it, rather than attempting a tapped hole. I would be concerned about a screw-in pipe thread fitting leaking, especially if you don't have full length engagement.

Re: Fuel Pressure Gauge
Perhaps a tee is not a bad option, I just had the rails powder coated so welding is off the table now.
