12" wheel up front?
Can a 12" wide wheel be run upfront with say something like a 325, 335 tire, while the fronts low enough to where the tires just about to start tucking under the fender?

Re: 12" wheel up front?
I've read some posts regarding running 315's on the front; track applications. I don't recall what offset was tho. But, someone here should know...

Re: 12" wheel up front?
up until recently I was running 315's up front using aftermarket amolds with 50mm offset. I had 315's on all four wheels. I will tell you one thing, it changes the ride drastically. If you are looking for handling over ride quality then go for it. the ride is much harsher and you will be adding weight because the wheels and tires weigh much more than the regular front rims and tires. I bought original amolds and put the regular size 275's up front and my car rides so much better and much less noisy. 315's should only be used if handling and tight turns are critical.

Re: 12" wheel up front?
This doesn't add much to this discussion, but I know 315's on 11" rear sawblades will not work on the front. I ignorantly thought I could run the same size wheels and track tires on all for corners but it didn't work. On the race track I had tire rub in the front (not surprisingly). The rear wheels with stock offset mounted on the front stuck out too far.
I do run the following on the front of my car, and they fit, work well: - My front street tires are 285's on aftermarket 11" A-molds. - My front track tires are 315's on 9" A-molds.

Re: 12" wheel up front?
I've never seen 12in but I have seen some people run 11in Grandsport wheels and tires up front.

Re: 12" wheel up front?
I wouldn't put my 12 inch wide rims on the front of my car!

Re: 12" wheel up front?
I run 11's in front, either clone A-molds or CCWs, with 315s on a somewhat lowered car. I get slight rubs on the wheel well and (big) sway bar at full lock but that's running Hoosier DOTs which are kind of cantilevered but more like "broad shoulder" tread. I would not go any wider on those tires but suppose some street stuff at 325 might fit. I know one guy with a C4 running 4x335s but I think his ride is set high in order to clear and honestly don't know how he can avoid the rubbing I get, or if he does.
The grip is, um, pretty good... HTH, - Jeff
