Default HELP - Rear/Middle area CLUNK, pull left during accel, right during decel

Last week I was heading to Houma LA from my house in Montgomery TX and it was raining hard. Got to a tight corner on my road by my neighborhood, I was going slooowww... Maybe 10mph, when the back end started to come around, I tried to drive threw it, usually very predicable... Not when wet! Ended up on the shoulder pointing the wrong direction in the lane I was in... The left tire was off the road and the right was still on tarmac.

Nothing seemed wrong at first, I started to notice a squeaking at low speed. When I got it from the heliport yesterday, i noticed that it was clunking when i would load it up, does it in first gear, and second.

Then I noticed it pulling to the left when I accelerate a little, and when I lift off, it pulls to the right.

Okay, now you know what it is... Fix it for me! LOL

I'll have time tomorrow to lift it up and check everything...

Once you get it up in the air, grab each rear wheel and see if there is looseness.

Recently I had some unexpected rear end darting and it turned out to be a loose rear tie rod nut, causing erratic toe in/out. The cotter pin was gone. Fortunately, an easy fix.

I had a weird issue like that when I first got my Z, ended up I had 4 loose lug nuts. Maybe you get lucky and its something simple like that.

Found it! Boy am I lucky!!! The right inner u-joint is trashed! Going to replace inner and outer with spicer X u-joints, and the x series beating straps. I think I'm going to do a right side hub-bearing as well.

Anyone recommend a good hub? One part I don't want to skimp on...

Thanks y'all Jay

Do a search for TIMKEN 513020 or SKF BR930024

You will probably find the other side in similar condition so you might as well do both.

Don't do just one side. They both have the equal amount of wear. I just did mine and Timken is def the way to go. But make sure you get the USA made Timken. You can find the Chinese Timkens everywhere for around $140 but the good ones I found at VanSteel.com for about $225 each and there is no comparison. Don't forget to get a new plastic hub washer. GMpartsdirect.com has those for cheap.

I'll do that! Thanks for the advice, I'm going to have to do one side for now... But hell, if I do both, might as well do the 4.11 upgrade to... Just sold an e85 race set up... All money gone for silly stuff... should have been my header money lol
