The Classic Chevy Club of Tucson will be hosting their 31st annual Chevy Showdown on Saturday, April 30, 2016, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Registration will start at 7:00 AM and run to 9:00 AM; awards will be from 2-3 PM. This show mainly features all 1986 and older Chevy cars and trucks. NEW THIS YEAR WILL BE A CLASS FOR GM (not Chevys), pre-1987. The show will take place in the parking lot adjacent to the Ava Amphitheatre of Casino del Sol Resort, 5655 W. Valencia Road, Tucson, AZ 85757. For overnight stay call 855-765-7829.
Preregistration entry fee for a vehicle will be $30.00, prior to April 23, 2016; $35.00, thereafter. Additional vehicles from the same household address will cost $10.00. Full entry fee will include one (1) show T-shirt, a goodie bag and dash plaque. There will be raffle prizes and a 50/50 cash prize. To safeguard people and our valuable cars and trucks, pop-up canopies will be allowed if weighted down with 10-pound weights on each leg. No stakes are to be pounded into the ground. Installers will be responsible for any injuries or property damage. Judging will be coordinated by the host club (hoods must be open for judging). 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards will be given out in 26 Chevy classes, Modified and Stock Appearing. There will also be one award for “Best Chevy” and ten (10) awards for “Best GM (not Chevy).” The class for GM (not Chevy) has been added on a trial basis. It will be open to all GMC, Pontiac, Buick, Oldsmobile, Cadillac, and other GM cars and trucks, pre-1987.

Come out and Vote for The People’s Choice. A Trophy will be awarded to the entry receiving the most votes.
Votes are 1¢ each (vote as many times as you want), with all proceeds going to help Mesa Baptist Church Missions.
We will also have Food Trucks, Games for the Kids, and More!

Admission is free to this Family-Friendly Car Show. Just bring canned food for the Living Streams Food Bank. See some Classics, Antiques, Muscle, Exotics, Custom cars, trucks and motorcycles at our visible location at the corner of Central & Glendale. Kids can enjoy the playground, bounce-house and snow cones for free. Enjoy music, and a barbeque hamburger or hot dog lunch with chips and a drink for only $5.
All proceeds collected at this event will benefit the Respite Shelter for Homeless Men, an Arizona 501c3 nonprofit organization. All canned food collected at this event will go to the Living Streams Food Bank.
"This will be our 6th event and it's a great way to bring awareness about the service provided by the Respite Shelter for homeless men who are in need of a place to recover after surgery, or to provide them with the support and services they need "says Kurt Cotter, the event coordinator.
The Respite Shelter is one of the few shelters of its kind in Arizona and one of only a handful in the entire country. At the Respite Shelter, lives continue to be turned around; some have been able to avoid slipping into first-time homelessness. The Respite Shelter receives referrals from social workers at every hospital in the greater Phoenix area, and from a few other medical sources. Paid staff and volunteers work together, cooperating with Food Stamp Services, Department of Economic Security, AHCCCS, Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS), and a variety of other public service agencies to provide much needed support and services to the men in our shelter.
