Received another vacuum pump but has a different connector

Hi guys,

'91 ZR-1

I received today a '90 ZR-1 vacuum pump from Paul (thanks a lot, great guy). However, the connector is different.

I don't want to cut my wiring harness. Can you think of a car (that I can easily find in a scrapyard) that has:

1st, a connector that can fit in there:


2nd, this connector but female instead of male:


Also, is there a way to wire it? Positive/negative...

I have both connectors and terminals but not sure which one you need.

Thanks Jeff, however I'm pretty sure I can figure it out in a local scrapyard. I guess nobody will be able to help me so I'll post the car models as soon as I find the right connectors in the scrapyard tomorrow.

NCRS car??? If so, I suppose the original connector type is important. But, otherwise; clip, strip, braid, solder shrink boot (individual wires), shrink boot again over the pair - looks like "factory" weatherproof connection and done! (But, that's just me...)

Not easily found in a "scrapyard" the connector type is seldom used in automotive as "wire to wire" but connector to component for your first image and that is I believe correct for the '91+ pump.

If you have all winter and really want a connector to adapt without the cut/splice either of these Delphi part #'s would do, 12162000 or 12162343 along with a 12052634 TPA with the correct terminals would do well. Might be a hard find locally.

Your second image is a "female" connector. What did you use as a reference number? ***

*** PT663 is correct for the '90 pump I'm quite sure. If that is what your image is then it's correct.

This document from time to time is very difficult to load but if it does search any one of the numbers I provided and it should take you to the appropriate section of the .pdf. If not PM me and I'll explain.

I didn't part number terminals and seal because they should be available locally I'm sure. Terminals are near the first page of the document.

An ACD PT561 or PT786 might be an assembled pigtail meeting these specifications but I've never had a "hands on" so I suggested components. I seldom use pigtails unless I'm spending someone else's money. If you can find one of these local to try it might be the thing to do. I thought these maybe 280 series connectors

I manage to find a connector for it on a Jimmy '96. It was pretty easy. However I have another problem so I'll create another thread.

I found the connector that you will need to have a '90 vacuum pump fitted in a '91+ ZR-1 in a GMC Jimmy 1996.





Picture of final installation. I don't think there's any ground plug, just install them randomly.
