Well I refer to cheaper alternatives for ECM.. for ABS CCM etc, not sure there are options.

Which is it you are after (before I get too far in the explanations)

Not my thread; don't mean to steal it, so I'll just say I've got this nice Snap-On paperweight that I'd really like to use. OR, somebody tell me what better to use?
No problem Paul, any and all info is welcome. I'm a little confused here-that's a shocker-is the AUTOXRAY and the Snapon scanner 2 devices you have or is this only one device? My point is I'd hate to spend $350 on a scanner only to have to continue to buy the cartridges I need. If all the basic cartridges come with a Snapon 2500,cartridges that will work for the basics then that's all I need. Why would some of these cartridges be going for $250 when an entire setup can be bought for $350,somebody think they are sitting on gold? Thanks to all for any info on this. Would like to buy asap but l need some more info.

Jeff, as I mention earlier, the red cartridges were used up to 2001 I believe, after that they used the black reprogrammable/updatable cartridges. The black cartridges are the expensive [$250] each [no scanner]. The scanner with red cartridges, books and adapters should go for $350. That's why you see the price differences. Snap-on was charging $500-$700 a year to update the black cartridges.

The MT2500 is great for checking codes, and looking at the different sensors ranges. You can even set it up to light up an LED when the secondaries open up.

The one thing it can't do is check Suspension codes. I found that out after I bought the scanner. It may be able to for other vehicles, but not the ZR-1 corvette.
