What is your favorite fluid x-fer tool???

And another thing...I need a decent fluid transfer tool. Harbor freight is good for some things, and a friggin' dump for Chinese-built CRAP, apparently...

What I though would work well (and should have!) is a large hand-held, cylinder pump (think of a syringe that holds near a quart, with a hose fitting on the in/out end, and a "T" handle on the plunger end). The one I have would be perfect, except this Harbor Freight - Chinese POS leaks past the internal plunger piston seal so readily that after only just a couple cycles it is squirting as much oil out the back to run down my arm an drip off my elbow as is going through the hose!!

I have an air compressor, but a pump like the ones used at the oil-change places would be way overkill...yet, something like that would be good. (Can you tell I've just recently done a complete fluid change, one filled with frustration over some JUNK tools??? Grrrrr. )

I say....what fluid are you transferring and where are you transferring the fluid to?

Just drain coolant.
Just drain Trans (after making sure you can get the top plug out).
Just drain Engine Oil.
Just drain Differential Oil (OOPS.....I have differential drain plugs in all ZR-1 differentials)

When filling the Trans or Differential, I just use a simple hand pump which screws on a plastic quart of whatever you are transferring. That works fine as I do not drain Trans or Differential but once for many miles of driving.

I am using 7201 for oil changes, works great, they do sell some to hook up to your compressor also

I also have a couple of bottle top pumps for gear oil that I keep sealed in a rubbermaid tomb because they are so nasty (and pungent smelling too).

Bag-in-Box Beverage pump works well and you can run it from your compressor

I need to rebuild my set-up and add a regulator and ball valve for control but it worked great for filling the trans.. took longer to get it set up then to pump in the fluids

Now that 2-hose affair would not matter if the piston leaked a little. Hmmmm... Too bad my "syringe" leaks (from day ONE) so bad. It is all metal, except for the POS seal around the pistion...which is the problem.

I pretty much use this pump for water. They are known to leak a little if you pump real hard or use it more than 3 times. but for $5 with a coupon...

Then I think back a couple of decades and the metal gear oil pumps leaked plenty- they just lasted longer.
