Ride control problem - ZR-1 Net Registry Forums

Hi everyone

, I want to start to thank you for all the info on the site and forum that has helped me a lot in fixing problems with my Z

I now have a problem with the ride control system that I can not figure out. I had no previous problems with the system and it was working perfectly until one day the "service ride control" light came on and when I pulled the codes I got all the codes that where listed in the service manual

Now I donâ€™t believe that all these problems could come up at the same time so I am thinking that maybe this could be a loose connection or the SRC Module.

Any advice on this is greatly appreciated so I can bring this beast back to tip top condition.

You should reset the system and then re-read the codes.

Then proceed from there. Very rarely will you have a controller failure.

Hi KRJ your first post I see! Guess you have been lurking around for a while from your comment. Glad to see you posting. I have to say I was surprised to see the location. I imagine you have the only ZR-1 in Iceland. A rare car in a most interesting country! How much of a ZR-1 driving season do you have?

Do as Jeff said.
If you need a SRC Module Bilstien sells them with or without a prom.
My SRC Module went bad, i bought just the SRC Module and had my prom desolder'd from my stock unit and now my SRC works fine and i only spend about 1/2 hour to diagnose and $200 for the SRC Module.

Thanks, I will try to reset the system and see if I get some other codes and if not maybe I will replace the Module and see if that helps.

Actually I know of 2 other ZR-1 here in Iceland so I am not alone. I drive it around 5 months a year and only on sunny days. The problem with owning a car like this here in Iceland is not the weather but the price of the car since it is so expensive to import and to buy and import spare parts.

The problem is likely one of the shock actuators. I've found the error
codes are not 100% reliable, sad to say. You may be able to isolate the
problem to one shock, but then it's helpful to watch the suspected actuator
go thru its self-test operation when you turn the ignition on and compare it with another (hopefully) good actuator. As I remember, the controller
cycles the shocks from soft to hard and looks for a failure.

I finally got the time to work on the car. First I tried to reset the system but for some reason it did not work until I disconnected one of the actuators and then suddenly it worked. Don't know if I am just clumsy or the error code system was frozen with all the errors. So now I just get a code for the left rear out of position so the problem is solved.
Thanks a lot for your help and suggestions, I knew you would have some good info on this.

Do you and the other two ZR-1 owners get together and visit--maybe a vette club there in Iceland?

Where do you go to open up the beast at for high speed tests? Do you have some nice long open roads to exercise the Corvettes at?

How about any photos of your vettes against the beautiful countryside?

No I have never met the other owners of ZR-1 just seen the cars on the road but we have a website for corvette owners where they can chat.
The speed limit here on the roads is only about 55 mph and we don't have a real race track yet so sad to say I can never really see what the car can do on a track or how scary fast it is.

I plan on taking the car on a short roadtrip next week and will try to get some good pictures and post them

KRJ, that must be frustrating. Are there many traffic police or does iceland use the cameras?
