No MPH
Are the LT1 and the LT5 Vehivle speed sensor the same? Are they readily available? The Vet has been sitting for about 2 month so I decided to take it out for a drive today. No MPH, no mpg and service engine lite evently came on on the way home. It set a code 24 (vehicle speed sensor). I checked online with out satisfactory results. Do you know if the chevy dealers still carry them?

Re: No MPH
but you can use the 91 sensor on a 90 if you splice the connector..
Right WV?

Re: No MPH
I have never done it but I've always assumed yes it would. I believe it might be more practical to maybe fabricate a short harness/adapter from the weather-pack style to the appropriate connector vs. a cut splice. There's of course nothing wrong with an appropriate proper splice.

Re: No MPH
The wiring should be the same since the ZR-1 ECM works with any model year LT-5. You could likely buy the 91 harness connector and swap the wiring from the 90 to the 91 connector.

Re: No MPH
I believe the conversation regarding the '90 doesn't relate to the OP. Last year I believe he mentioned an ASR/FX3 issue and his car is a '92. He also mentioned in a "closing post" to the thread that his MPH/ODO correction was done with an ERA when he did a rear ratio change. I mentioned in my first post in this thread. Diagnostics.
I'd say the OP has much to check out. Several splices etc. I doubt a VSS issue. His last post in the other thread: http://www.zr1.net/forum/showpost.ph...5&postcount=22 |

I used a '92 FSM (6E3-A-54 Code 24) and a '90 FSM (6E3-A-46 Code 24) and comparing the ECM inputs A6 & A11 they are reversed at the VSS. A '90 is pinned YELLOW to B/PPL to A, a '92 and I assume a '91 are reversed at the VSS with YELLOW to A/PPL to B so when the connector is spliced or using a harness extension like I mentioned you need to make sure you pin/splice it appropriately. That is why I initially mentioned a harness extension but I didn't recall the specifics of why. Doing it with the harness extension if you wanted to go back to an OE VSS it's simply "plug and play" rather than another cut/splice. I assume the FSM's mentioned are correct! |
