Default Nominations NOW OPEN for Board of Directors

The normal office span for a person elected to the Board of Directors is 4 years. However, in order to promote the necessary continuity of Club business though the election process, only half of the Board is subject to the election process every 2 years.

At this time there are (4) seats open for nominations. Nominations will be taken now through October 15th when the nomination period is closed. The nominations may be posted and seconded on the Members Only section, or may be mailed to the Secretary (to a PO box, TBA next week).

All nominations, according to the by-laws, need to be Club members in good standting, and SECONDED by another member in good standing. At present, there have been two nominations and seconded. There are no limits to the number of nomination/seconds - except both nominees and those seconding are to be members in good standing. We on the Board of Directors encourage the nominations from the membership in order to keep the flow of fresh ideas and enthusiasm alive in our club.

"Time is of the essence", to borrow a legal term. So, please... If you have been considering becoming a member of the Board of Directors and sharing your ideas and enthusiasm, or if you know of someone who might, NOW would be a good time to let it be known!

Let's hear from you!

Hi Jeff. Duties vary, depending on the position held. Each Director has their own responsibilities but all Directors have a sense of teamwork. We all try to help each other in any way possible.

* BOD Meetings approx. 1 = Month or more depending on the issues at hand. Not just attend the meetings. Play an active part in helping to run the organization.
* Help at Registry functions (I.e., Gathering and Carlisle)
* Submit articles for HOB Newsletter
* Help to promote the ZR-1 in any way possible and at every opportunity
* Help other members of the Brotherhood whenever possible
* Bring a positive attitude toward the ZR-1 "experience".
* Help to ensure that all members show respect for one another on our Forum
* Help to answer any and all inquiries about the Registry
* Be an Ambassador for the Registry at all times

There is an unwritten responsibility to the entire organization and to each other. A BOD position "can" take a lot of time and effort, even when life gets in the way. Agreeing to be a part of the BOD takes commitment, so be prepared for the long run.

So, if anyone wants to step up and be a "positive" force for the Registry, take the challenge and run for the BOD's.

Brett

Thank you Brett, I wanted to post this int he nomination section, but here I felt was better.

I think this needs to be addressed for people wanting to run but have NO CLUE what it takes..

This part:

Will keep me from running until my kids are older and I have more time.. right now most my time is spent with my kids

I know how much time volunteering can take and I cannot take on any more volunteer stuff at the moment as much as I would like to..

here is my current volunteer list:
-Assistant Scout Master
-Merit Badge Counselor (Scouts)
-STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology, Mathematics) Counselor (Scouts)
-Soccer Coach
-VP, Parent board for local swim team

granted the VP spot is summer only, but the scout stuff takes up a lot of time.. 4 nights this week alone..

I figure when my kids are in college I will be ready right now they are 9 and 12

You hit the nail on the head, Jeff. A BOD has to have the time available in order to be an effective part of the team. If not, the whole organization can suffer.

Yes and I feel that should be known for anyone looking to be nominated. My son Just became Patrol Leader for his Scout Patrol, he was appointed because the other boy that was voted in... did nothing.. no meetings nothing

By talking the talk and doing nothing, all he did was HURT the others by not having the time to invest in planning and executing meeting/ activities etc..

These boys are all 11 and 12, but I see the SAME thing in ALL Volunteer organizations even with Adults, some think yeah I can do it then can't afford or find the time, after the fact..

I am going to post my nomination now

Paul, is it possible to send the nomination announcement out to everyone by email? Some people may miss the nomination period if they don't get on the forum regularly. Just wondering. Thanks,
