Default HomeLink sun visors

About to replace my visors and I'm interested in the one with HomeLink. However, I have the original windshield and my current garage door opener seems to have issues with it...already have to stick my hand out the window sometimes to get it to work. I don't want to spend a bunch of extra cash for a feature that my special laminated windshield will prevent me from using. Any experience?

TIA

Was wondering the same thing myself. Homelink would be sweet, but would it work? Do you know if all the components for it are internal to the sunvisor?

Yes, it's a very simple unit and doesn't need to take up any more space than a normal garage door opener. I'm sure it would work just fine. My only concern is with the ZR-1's OEM laminated windshield.

Interesting - I use an opener and don't really have a significant problem with my original windshield interfering. It is, however, a 20+ year old unit - not a HomeLink if that's somehow a different spectrum or something.

Your mileage apparently varies,

It works fine. I have had mine in my car for several years with the original windshield. If you have an older garage door opener however you may need a repeater. Been there done that. Works fine with the newer garage door openers as well.

Now if I could get my Gate code fob and home alarm to work thru the windshield that would be great....
