a little test and tune at orlando speeworld
March 6, 2013 Orlando Speed World was open for test and tune runs.
temp was about 68 deg. with little wind and low D.A. Car : my 1990 ZR-1 with 4l80E auto and 3.73 rear gears. 1st pass left @ 1200 rpm 2nd and 3rd passes left @ 1800 rpm. each pass trans shifted @ 7000. my 1st pass @ 6:50 p.m. 2nd pass @ 7.31 last pass @ 8:48 R/T .371 R/T .776 R/T .581 60' 1.719 60' 1.698 60' 1.722 330' 4.917 330' 4.865 330' 4.888 1/8 7.525 1/8 7.452 1/8 7.473 MPH 92.26 MPH 95.03 MPH 95.10 1000' 9.787 1000' 9.698 1000' 9.716 1/4 11.687 1/4 11.585 1/4 11.600 MPH 118.49 MPH 118.80 MPH 119.38 As you see i need to work on my reaction times, but the runs were great plus track traction was very good. as my 60 ft times last year were 1.74 to 1.78. After racing as i put the " Z " back in the garage the mileage just turned over to 121,000 miles. When the weather gets warmer here i think my e.t.'s will drop to 11.75 or slower. Whats been done to the motor? Nice 60 ft. It seems that the auot works pretty well. I would have guessed with the absence of low end on thee motors the 60 ft. might not be as good with the auto. Thanks for posting. Some impressive times. Just curious as to what modes other than the trans and the gears to generate those times and mph.

Re: a little test and tune at orlando speeworld
Thanks,
The motor was rebuilt by SGC, its his 550 hp pkg. 368 cu in with stage 1 cams. On a Dyno, after adjusting new injectors it pulled 418 RWHP. do not remember what the RWTQ numbers were. Tires are BFG drag radial at 26 lbs. Now i have to tell you that the DA was - 60' ft plus dry and no wind or dew. Some one said it was a mine shaft air. What torque converter are you using in the 80e? What is the flash stall when you launch?
Nice times. peace Hog |

Re: a little test and tune at orlando speeworld
Hog,
I'am using a 3200 stall converter made by FTI in Deland FL. I leave the line at 1800. The trans is controlled using comupshift, I have it sent to shift at 7000 at WOT. After burn out I shift into 3rd gear ,stage, come up to 1800 last yellow bury the pedal and keep her straight. Then hang on and enjoy the ride. I may try leaving at a higher rpm ( 2000-2200 ) if i can hold on foot brake. John 1990 white/black #2546 one of a few auto ( 4l80E ) eq ZR-1's |
