Re: 3 ZR-1 non ZR-1's on eBay right now...
Ron,
These are examples of part of the reason why I am getting screwed by my insurance company on the settlement for my flood damaged ZR-1. There is a glitch in Ebay's software. On certain cars, when the seller enters the VIN when creating the ad, Ebay forces the ZR-1 stuff into the description. The sellers in the first two ads even state in the text that "THIS IS NOT A ZR-1", although in the first ad the seller claims that "***The VIN decodes as a ZR-1 but this is a LT-1 Coupe***." To the best of my knowledge, it should be pretty valuable since it's the only 1991 LT1 on the planet. My insurance company has been using Ebay for comparables and has been pulling these bogus ads up and claiming "there are low mile ZR-1's for sale as cheaply as $5000.00." I tried to explain the 1G1YZ vs 1G1YY to them, but they don't even want to listen. That combined with the fact that NADA had the 1991 ZR-1 values screwed up (I did contact them and they have fixed that) has caused the insurance company to low ball me and they have now dug their heels in and refuse to budge. It's very frustrating to say the least. I was paying for a policy based on a DRG(designated rate group) of 38 and now that I've suffered a total loss, they only want to pay me $8700.00 and are acting like they are being generous. I know my bank has an exotic black book which values the ZR-1 much more than KBB or NADA. Maybe it's worth finding a copy. My bank is USAA...
Sorry you're having so much trouble...
