For those of you who expressed "Remote Interest"

So after buying this Plug and Play HI-Beam/LOW-Beam kit from Corvettehid.com website; what were my Impressions? Of this kit?

Quality: Top Notch
Ease of Install: Took longer than expected not truely plug and play
Wiring: Good quality once you figured it out
Instructions: OK color would have been nice in one area

Overall Impression Nice kit and happy with the end result. I went with the 50W Ballasts and the 4300K heat range kit.

So lets start. First the new Glass housings are Styrene backed inorder to prevent dirt and water from entering the projection housings. While this is a great idea it immediately causes problems with the install. This glass housing is longer than a standard glass headlight blub so metal spacers provided are needed as well when it comes time to secure the metal trim headlight retention frame.

So as you can clearly see.... LOTS of Styrene and the backside of the housings are now real fat so fitment is an issue into the standard headlight support bucket. The install instuctions say to bend back the housing support tabs. But there is no way that will work if you try to force it you will tear up all the styrene.

So GCs install solution cut the Headlight support bucket. NCRSers shield your eyes now

Cut the backsides, File them then reuse

Plenty of room for that back now and no chance of cutting or tearing up the styrene now once you file the cut area down that is !!!

Time to mount the New Headlight and housing and the support retention frame

See how long that bulb is now??? See the machined retention spacers now retaining the headlight with the gap?

Plenty of room for the wiring to be plugged in and the Ballest to be installed. Suggest using both ties and the double sided tape provided in the kit

Plug in the Ballast its just an insert and turn and lock onto the backside of the HID bulb. Ziptie up all the connectors.

Now its splicing time tie into the Green wire on one end on the drivers side headlight control harness from the six wire headlight harness connector

Now tie into the green wire to that yellow wire that goes to the four wire connector to the headlight harness. This is all covered in the instuctions and the only wire tapping you will need to do.

Hey GC, last pic. You had to take all that stuff on the ground off to do the headlights???

Look how much further beyond the tabs you have to go. Bending them out of the way simply wont work

And.... Something green thats operated by Remote the gill light kit. Very suttle

GC, Nice write up! Definently not a job for the faint of heart. Nice Gill lights too!!

How much more weight does that add to the headlight assembly? I am thinking about those plastic head light gears.

Some words of caution on the plug and play wiring. The instructions stated "that many corvettes are miswired from the factory". While this may be true for the three prong Headlight plug be advised that the low beam wire to the three prong plug will either be a Green wire or a Tan wire or the High beam will be either Tan or Green.

This caused us a lot of grief as we were getting power to both wires no matter what the switch setting but no lights. The ground wire was miswired from Corvette HId into the Lowbeam wire position. Once when opened the supplied socket we were able to move the wires to the right pin location in the socket and the problem was sloved. Just something to be aware of.

Thanks a few folks said why the hell green? I did want to confuse any drivers with Orange or Red. So green kind of stands out on the white paint.

It will add weight Rich but I upgraded from the Hella housings which were also already glass so the mod really added nothing that I already didnt have. As we all know reguardless those Delran bushings will eventually need to be replaced again. I already did em once before a few years ago. The light output is outstanding. I avoided two deer on my trip back home because of this projection driving 30 miles South of Elko Nevada and a Skunk in Idaho. They truely are amazing and I consider them a safety item and well worth the bucks. GC
