There is a hole there but dont know why the nipple is missing.
What is a Pilot and Mule?
There were approximately 49 "Pilot" ZR1's that were made prior to the 1990 debut. They were shown and driven by members of the media (magazine, newspaper, etc.). Most were returned to GM to be crushed, but some were stashed away. A handful still exist today. Occasionally, parts and pieces from them show up in places like eBay. There are small differences between them and the 1990 production models.
"Mules" are GM internal test vehicles that were made to figure out how to shoe horn in the LT5 and also new technologies like Active Suspension. GM never intended that these cars be available to the public, but somehow a few escaped the crusher. At least 3 pre-production Mules were found in a Lotus junkyard in England a few years ago, albiet crushed, but not beyond repair. At least one of them has been brought back to life, here's a link to the story:
