Lee,

No question that the ZR-1 was the starter pistol for real, affordable horsepower. I think the legends lives and gets stronger with those of us here that continue to burn the "flamefront" brightly!

lets think this out
*Only DOHC car
*Only engine built outside Chevrolet
*Still holds the world endurance record
*No other Corvette surpassed its speed from 1990 to 2001

the ZR1 is back, the B2K option is back we are starting to get a sense of nostalgia about the cars that started the 2nd muscle car revolution. Not to mention that even a 12.8 stock Z can stay up with some of the pig fat cars of today with 500+ hp

Pull a string for me Bob....

Just my two cents......I am not knowledgeable about collector cars as to me anything that I like, if I had the cash, would be in my 'collection'. The only thing would be I'd devalue them because I'd be driving all of them, so I'd never be a collector in any real sense.

I do believe later on when car guys look around for an 'inflection' point in returning to legal big power in the post EPA era, our motors will be that point. If you argue the counter point to that you are not looking at the blue prints for any of the big power motors of today. GM's line up uses stuff borrowed from our motors, up and down the spectrum actually not just the hot rod motors. Ford took it to the extreme and sort of made copies of our motors. Okay, I never looked at the new Hemi series from MOPAR so I'll leave that out. JMHO

I'm guilty of wanting to drive my Z as much as I have time to do so. I like nothing better than to get her on cruises that last for hours. To me that's the way I get to realize what a darn good GT car a ZR-1 really is. Thanks Dave, Tony, Graham, et al for my ZR-1!

Tom

I met Wayne at a Concours D'elegance last August and had a nice chat with him for a few minutes. He was very polite and cordial.
