Oh I was going to say I could take look at it for you, but it is NW of Eau Claire. Thats a 3 hour drive for me. I cant do that.

The hood hinges appear to be chrome and so do the rims.

I'm trying to arrange a time to go and view. I'd appreciate a more experienced set of eyes if anyone is close enough to meet there.

Dave,

Let me know when you might go and look at the car. I am in St. Paul, MN just a couple of hours away. If I can get away I could meet you and look over the car. I am NOT a LT5 mechanic in any sense of the word but I should be able to see the most obvious flaws.

Thanks Bob, that would be very good of you if you could make it. It's about a 10 hour drive for me I believe - I'm in Sudbury, Ontario (Canada).

I'll let you know when I have a date set up.

Dave, I think either of the next 2 weekends would work best for me. Not tomorrow weekend but the next 2. Hopefully there won't be any snow yet and I could make my last drive in the Z before putting her to bed for winter. Have you done a CarFax yet? Might be a good idea. If this is the car for you, do you plan on driving it back that day? Long drive but well worth it. There is nothing like driving a Z....... You can PM with any further info.

Bob

It depends on the seller really. I would hope its in those weekends too from my perspective in terms of getting the car back here.

Sadly I won't be driving her back that day. With all the paper work etc. I will need to make a second trip to pick her up and US customs requires 48 hours notice of any vehicle exports - so 2 trips it will be.

I may have to trailer the car back, depending on how the weather is looking and once home it will be a case of storage until Spring arrives and the snow disappears. Hate the idea of having to wait, but after 16 years a few months isn't a big deal I guess.

I've run a carfax thanks and the title shows clean. Having an experienced eye look her over would definitely be an extra comfort though.

The seller sent me some more pics of the underneath of the car. Would appreciate any feedback.

http://www.vette-dreams.com/92/index2.htm

To my eye it looks maybe a little rough in places, needs some tlc, but I don't see any real show stoppers. The carpet in the back inside the hatch seems to have been replaced and the new one fitted incorrectly. Any ideas why that might have needed replacing?

The page is a bit slow loading, I didn't want to reduce the quality of the images and possibly lose any important details.

Thanks again

Dave

The worst thing that I saw in those picts is the rear gear cover gasket/sealant is leaking. Now that's a weekend project....while I had it off I'd see about making a drain plug somewhere, that's on the plus side.

If you drive the car the underside is gonna get filthy....come see mine! I actually try to keep it clean but it's a loosing effort!

I have one Q for those that know 92's....where is the evaporative emissions canister and it's plumbing?? On a 90 it's in the left front well with the A.I.R. pump.

The carpet I don't get, makes me wonder if they were chasing an electrical problem....too lazy to put it back correctly? I'm sure that is a PIA job requiring a lot of patience.

I would have to say that I only see the rear leak & carpet as flaws. The rest is just "do we really have to clean the chassis every week?" I'd rather drive mine!
