Hey that car looks familiar. Took this pic in 2006 right after I got my Z at a local cruise night here in Bloomington. The guy you bought it from lives less than a mile from me (or at least he used to). I haven't seen him in a while, wondered if the car was still around.

Congrats on your Z!

Welcome aboard man. Fantastic looking car!

You won't hurt a thing driving around with the vacuum pump cycling. It'll be fine until you get it fixed. Take a good look at the posts here and over at CF to see what exactly you need to purchase. Very similar vac pumps are available... you don't need to buy NOS for this part.

The miss is hard to tell without a little more information. It could be anything from that vac leak you mentioned to a starting-to-fail O2 sensor. Learn how to pull error codes and let us know if it has any stored.

Congrats again!

The exact vacuum pump from a Kodiak truck can be had for as little as $125 shipped to your door opposed to $$300+ for the pump for a ZR-1.The plug for a 1990 is the only difference I believe. The part number is 94669091.

My pump cycles briefly at times- maybe once every 45 seconds. If that's all you have with that, and everything else is functioning in the secondary system, I wouldn't worry about it much until you have to remove the plenum for something else.
