Turbo 400 question
Taking a shot in the dark here, but would anyone know where I could find a picture or description of the rear case bushing being installed into a Turbo 400. I'm referring to item # 81 in the pic.
The bushing has a few drains and veins and I don't know if there is a particular way it can be installed or not. I have googled and googled and no luck. Even a description from a FSM would be helpful. Thanks Ty

Re: Turbo 400 question
Hello Ty,
I currently have a TH400 apart in my garage. I went out and looked and it looks like there are two small dimples or holes in the rear bushing. The bushing is installed in the case with those holes/dimples located at the 3:00 and 9:00 o'clock positions. That is looking into the case from the rear. I have Ron Sessions' book: "How to Work With and Modify the Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 Transmission" and it doesn't say anything special about the bushing installation. In my Haynes Techbook they detail chiselling out and pressing in the rear bushing but nothing is mentioned about orienting it in any special way. Hope this help, Jim
