Hi all,

Are there any problems associated with the timing chain? All I am asking is bascially what are the intervals like for changing them? I know that on the GM 3.4 DOHC you should change the timing chain every 50,000 or so, and since the engines were made just about the same time I was curious...

Part 2:

What kinda maintenance problems are there to owning an LT-5? Please note that the prices for parts; I KNOW are higher than any other SBC... Not trying to be mean, just clarifying things k.... Basically I would like to hear any or all problems that you all may have encountered while running with this engine..........

Hi, I think you might take a look at the zr1netregistry.com site as there is a good deal of info on maintenance and common issues. Also posted over there are the "fixes" for a lot of the common issues.

I'm no expert but I think that the chains' reliability issue was not a concern after Lotus got past the destructive durability testing. I could be wrong about that. I only know of one person that had a problem with the chains and that car was modded and raced.
