Default SPEED Channel to Air Round 8 of ALMS

SPEED CHANNEL TO AIR ROUND EIGHT OF THE AMERICAN LE MANS SERIES AT CHEVY PRESENTS PETIT LE MANS

Braselton, GA - The SPEED Channel will feature round eight of the American Le Mans Series with eight hours of live coverage of Chevy presents Petit Le Mans, live from Road Atlanta, Saturday, September 25, beginning at 11:30 a.m. (Eastern).

David Lee will be the Coordinating Producer of the telecast of one of the world's most prestigious sports car races, and one of two long-distance events on the ALMS schedule for SPEED Channel. This will be the fifth consecutive year that SPEED has aired the Petit Le Mans. Lee is no stranger to this grueling endurance race and appreciates all of the great action that Road Atlanta provides.

"While the 12 hours of Sebring opened up our 2004 ALMS season, we go to Road

Atlanta to close it," Lee said. "It's been a busy summer swing but all those reps really give our announcers and crew a chance to get into a great flow. Everyone is in sync and I'm sure our partners at Wheeler TV will deliver for our viewers.

"Fortunately over the last couple years our crews have gotten somewhat used to the challenge of covering endurance racing," Lee said. "The ones that really deserve the credit are those in the trenches that deal with the elements. Whether it's pouring rain or 100 degrees outside, our camera ops, utilities, and pit reporters really bear the brunt of it. If you go around and talk to the crew, however, most of them look forward to the big races. When you're doing what you love, it doesn't seem like work, does it?

"There have been so many great moments at this event," commented Lee. "We're encouraged by some of the additions to the entry list and look forward to following those stories, as well as documenting the championship battles still to be decided. We've been fortunate with a lot of great action on the SPEED Channel events this year and hope that continues at Road Atlanta."

Leigh Diffey will anchor the SPEED Channel team for Chevy presents Petit Le Mans, joined in the booth for expert race analysis by Dorsey Schroeder and Derek Daly. Calvin Fish and Brian Till will cover the action in the pits and will be joined by Andrew Marriott due to the shear length of the race. Wheeler Television of Charlotte, N.C., will produce the telecast with Executive Producer Patti Wheeler, while the show producer will be Jim Roller. Billy McCoy will direct the telecast.
