engine rebuild
If you've got bad rings and need to rebuild the motor, can you replace the liners and pistons, matched of course, or do you have to go to a larger cu (368)?

Re: engine rebuild
Here is a ttt for ya because I don't know enough to answer the Q. I would think that if the liners & pistons are not damaged as in scuffed up why wouldn't a ring r&r fix an oil comsumption or a lack of compression problem?
Equally, a tear down to that degree would be the ideal time to do a larger inch motor also....but the cost would be substantial as those are custom parts? Tom

Re: engine rebuild
The Nickasil liners shouldnt be reconditioned. Even if you do the liners, it takes special expensive equipment that can compromise the coating. Thats why the 368 is done. You can just install new rings, but that is low quality option and not advisable. Theres too much work and expense to take a chance they wont set properly.
What is the mileage on your car? If you are interested, I have a matched rotating assembly set for sale.

Re: engine rebuild
I wouldn't even consider a stock rebuild. Upping the ante to at least a 368 will make things a lot easier. You'll spend roughly the same amount of money, so might as well get some new power to go with it.

Re: engine rebuild
Thanks for the input. About how much $$ for a 368 rebuild? The car already has P/P intake, plenum, headers, B & B.
