That is cool! Now that has the simplex chains, right? In the HOB book, it says those fail after about 20 hours. I think it also said the Phase I & II's had an issue with blowing oil out of the engine at high revs?
Guess you won't be able to drive that prototype that often, huh? We think parts are hard to find for our production LT5's, just imagine trying to find replacement parts for those prototype engines! |

Yes. Gotta baby it. It should last longer than the 20 hr mark but it needs babied. The simplex chains won't take a lot above 4k rpm's. Geoff did update whatever he could, internally.
On the trailer....off the trailer.....repeat..... I just want it to run when I turn the key. This car is not meant to be a driver. Just something to have and admire. Kinda like a 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth.

Brett,
THAT is eye candy!! Awesome. Is the oil filter the period correct one? I can see 970C on it. The reason I ask is because I have a new "old" blue PF970 filter that looks identical to the one on a Phase II engine I used to have, photo below. You can tell the filter is blue under the painted over black. It's yours if you want it. ![]() Here's a photo of the engine with the painted over, blue PF970. I would think that has to be the correct filter, since it never was a production engine. ![]()
