March for Heroes II to support The Military Order of the Purple Heart

Hey everyone. We're kicking off our 2011 show season with March For Heroes II to support the Nevada Department of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. The show will be held Saturday March 12th from 11a to 2p at Centennial Buick, GMC, Mazda at 6501 Centennial Center Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89149.

Registration is only a $10 donation that goes to the charity, and is open to any make, model, and year of car and truck. We'll have food, prizes, awards, entertainment and a lot of fun.

We always have a couple of C6 ZR1's in attendance, but it would be nice to see some C4 ZR-1's, too.

Thank-you for your service, and taking one for the team. I have a few forces friends that should/do belong to the Canadian version, but until 2008, we had no equivalent to the US "Purple Heart Medal".
Now that we do have recognition, it's called the Sacrifice Medal, it is "awarded" to injured/killed Canadian combatants who were injured/killed in an honourable circumstance after October 7, 2001.
There were quite a few guys/gals that came home, that were really screwed up, both physically and mentally. After my experiences, I had a few bad dreams, but as a whole, I was OK.

There are some ignorant/uneducated people out there. I was wearing my combat uniform one day, and a passer-by yelled at me, calling me a "baby-killer". I always wore my uniform with pride, that pride was my suit-of-armour. But that comment, really but a chink in that armour. I just couldn't understand why someone would try and belittle someone in uniform, or was prepared to give their life in defense of their nation/allies. Jealousy/envy/hate??? That comment really bothered me, this was in the early 00's, I can only imagine what the U.S. troops coming home had to endure back in the 60's/70's.

It is beleived that the number of US draft dodgers who came to Canada, were offset by the number of Canadian volunteers who enlisted in the US Army for service in Vietnam. Everything I read says this number is around 30,000.
Finally in 1995, the Canadian government erected the "North Wall" in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. It is a permanent monument which lists all of the Canadian Vietnam veterans that sacrificed their all for what they believed in.
Most of the US draft-dodgers relacted from the US to Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada and to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Vetereans returning to these Canadian cities were often met by anti-war hostilities.

I dont care what war is being fought, where the war is, or how it is being fought. I will ALWAYS support the troops fighting that war. If you have an axe to grind, do so with the government, not the troops. The troops are doing what they are told to do, it's their job. People can not support a war, while still supporting the troops. These are 2 completeley different subjects.

I hope the March For Heroes II raises lots of money for the Nevada Department of the Military Order of the Purple Heart.

As an Infantry Platoon Sergeant who just got back from Afghanistan, I will tell you the hardest MEDAL to award a Soldier is the Purple Heart, and I had to do it 7 times this past tour.

I thank all past VETS that served and especially the ones that received this award, I know this is one no one wants.
