So I'm in the Snap On truck before I pulled my motor getting a few tools and I bought this nice harmonic balancer kit that looked like it fit every application under the sun. Then I pulled the LT5 yesterday and no problem taking off the damper only to find the bolt threads don't match anything in the kit and bigger too.
So what is out there to reinstall the balancer/damper? I am surely not going to do like I remember friends doing in the old days with a 2 X 4 and a BA hammer. Thanks! |

Thanks Jeff, another bubble bursted with NLA. I'm going to return the Snap On kit today. At least I won't need the tool for awhile. Please let me know the progress if you get it made. I'll check with the bolt speciality company here and see it they have a long bolt with these threads and nut/washers to see if I can fab up something too.

If you know a machinist, the adapter for the tool you have is easy to make. I made one for mine. Its a 3/8-16 thread on one end ( for the balancer tool) and the Lt5 crank thread on the other end.

Ok, Dad had a mini stroke yesterday but is fine. On blood thinners and blood slickers. I'll be back to the shop tomorrow.
